ghosts of girlfriends past isn't it good to know people in the media? once again, another premiere. ghosts of girlfriends past at film garde, illuma. it was my first for all 3. to me the movie was a nice chick flick but my sis was not so forgiving. she felt that wasn't any plot and the acting sucks. besides that, she kept commenting that jennifer garner was not pretty. i wouldn't say it's very good either but it's not that bad. furthermore, there is not many to choose from and beggars can't be choosers. i was just quite grateful for another movie opportunity. only watch this if you're in the mood for a light romantic chick flick (not really a romantic comedy as it was promoted). i don't think guys would enjoy this except for all the skimpily clad females. i still prefer gvmax and the cathay. film garde was a bit disorganised when it came to entering the cinema. there is an escalator going up to the halls and they were collecting tickets at the base of the escalator. it was just so congested there. do not even know whether they ticketed everybody. it was like zara sales or something. as for the interior, the seats were quite spacious and the cinema big. however, if you're looking for nice interior design like gv, it's lacking (but i don't think that's an important criteria in a cinema). furthermore, they did not stagger the timings of the movies so it was crowded coming in and going out. after that we headed downstairs to manhattan fish market. sad to admit, i have never eaten there before because everyone was telling me how bad it was. however my sis insisted on me trying because she said it was better than fish & co. by the time we reached, it was almost closing time. the staff was really friendly and still invited us in. my sis. the sodas (before and after mixing) were at a promotional price of $5.90 for 2. one was strawberry lime and the other blueberry lime. i love the zesty taste of lime with the sweetness of the syrup. sounds like something you can make yourself but still it was a good combination. my grilled catch of the day (dory). it was supposed to come with either rice or fries but the waitress was kind enough to offer me both. my sis asked me which i preferred and i couldn't answer her. the fries were as good as long john's and the rice tasted like chicken rice but more herbs and not as oily or salty. my sis adored her fish and chips. she said they are one of the best she ever had. she chose the alaskan pollock (choice of dory or that). it was smoother than the dory and according to the waitress, juicier. the only thing my sis was unhappy about was that they poured the sauce over the fish and made it soggy. it would have been better if they separated the sauce. currently they have this 1-1 lobster platter promotion at $42. on top of that, if you order their fish and chips, you get an extra fish free. not bad huh? i can't decide whether fish & co or this is better because i usually have the spicy variety (sambal or peri peri) when i'm at fish & co. all in all, i find this place not bad but maybe you should try this place and decide for yourself. |
