more of putien

had dinner at putien again (you can actually see how much my family loves this restaurant). but this time the post will be on dishes we have never tried before. dishes featured this time weren't as good as the ones we had previously at putien.

deep fried chicken with garlic, $12/half. wasn't salty enough. suitable for people who are health conscious like my mum.

steamed prawns with minced garlic, $18. one of their better dishes. according to my family, the sauce and garlic made the fresh prawns oh-so-good. don't you find their presentation very appealing?

at the moment, putien is participating in a competition, singapore prestige brand award. they are giving out forms to assess how their customers feel about them. if you fill up a form, they will give you a free dessert (white fungus with lotus seed). not really a fungus fan, but it is free and came with ginkgo nuts.

sweet potato balls, $8. fell real short of my expectations. i thought they would be like the sweet potato balls we had in taiwan, sweet and crunchy albeit expensive for the price we would be paying. but, they were not! the balls had this glutinous-like texture sweet potato paste inside and it was really hard to swallow. definitely wouldn't order this again.

didn't post up my very first experience at putien but i strongly recommend the homemade beancurd, $8, spinach with salted egg and century egg in supreme stock, $12, as well as hing wa beehoon, $6. the stir-fried yam, $10, is a chef's recommendation but not suitable for people who can't take lots of yam. my advice is not to try anything with red wine sauce.
