watami--take 2  had a rare chance to grab dinner with mum in town that day. in fact, being in town is a luxury, in between juggling school hours and the work i have to bring home. up till now, i've been mostly isolated and stranded in this other country called jurong west.  so, i decided to bring mum to try watami at ion. she was exhausted, having pulled a night shift and was more interested in going home to sleep.  we ordered the wafu beef bites, saba fish and pork kimchi nabe. i still love the beef! it still tasted as juicy as i remembered. mum had a ball of a time with the nabe as they were really generous with the vegetables.  we ended our meal with dessert--hot chocolate cake. however, it wasn't hot at all! the only thing that was close to warm was the chocolate sauce, which may i say was very thick. the dessert was served on this stone plate which was freezing! it kept the ice cream from melting, hence giving me plenty of time to take pictures. mum's verdict? sushi tei is better. she thinks while the variety is plentiful here, the quality is still lacking. but it's still my kind of japanese food! |
