i'm a girl who have stepped into the unknown called work and decided that schooling is better. i also have a propensity to go crazy over fried chicken wings and simply love to squeeze and over-feed my obese hamsters. my blog is a mode for expressing my love for food, movies, travel and shopping!

gobi @ joo chiat

let's start with an outfit first!

i absolutely adore this culottes i bought from an online store. can't remember which since it was so long ago, but it's so pretty. looks like a skirt and has the freedom of movement of a shorts. the colour is gorgeous and looking vintage. matches almost everything, from prim white blouse to a casual tank top.

our trip to salvation army to donate stuff. cleared so much from my wardrobe, it was almost like chinese new year spring cleaning.

after the side trip, we headed to my aunt's house for lunch.

and she surprised us with durian! i love durians! look at how fresh and yellow they look :) finger licking good.

the durian was an appetiser for lunch...

my aunt brought us to gobi at joo chiat. we have tried it previously at suntec city, which was a bigger outlet and had since closed down. this one is more like a quaint cafe and has lesser choices.

surprisingly, the menu for desserts and drinks is actually bigger than the one for food!

each set comes with a choice of soup, salad and main course (sandwich or pasta). for the soup, we had a choice between tomato and mushroom. most of us chose mushroom. it was too rich and thick for me. however, my sis, a mushroom lover drank most of mine.

while there were a few pastas to select from, the handful of us ordered chicken with peppers served with tomato sauce. each portion of salad, soup and main course was just nice.

the set meals were nothing to wow about. the desserts on the other hand...

we ordered a few to share and this is what we had.

creme brulee. a top pick among the eight of us. the burnt sugar was crisp and the vanilla custard base offered a nice contrast of smoothness.

chocolate lava cake. it wasn't much of a lava since there was no flow of chocolate. i think it had to do with the ice cream on top of the cake which cooled it down.

one of my absolute favourites, even back in the suntec city days. crepe layered with meringue, topped with passionfruit ice cream.

my aunt's personal favourite--nougat ice cream served with passionfruit ice cream and macaroon. a dessert for nut lovers.

last but not least, the best of the best--souffle. nicely risen, fluffy and melts in your mouth. it's probably the best souffle i've ever had. if i go back next time, i will order this :)
