durian mpire, are you sure?

was surfing jurong point's website for restaurant offers and lo and behold, saw a new shop! durian mpire on the second floor, so my sis and i decided to check it out after school.

when we got there, we realised that it was actually just 717 trading with an eating area. what a disappointment. we thought it was a totally new shop, not one that was already in existence and passing it off with another name.

basically, you can order their products and eat them at the area behind the counter, as opposed to just taking away. in addition to their durian products, you can order seasonal fruits like durians (mao san wang, d24, etc.) and lychee, as well as hot and cold drinks at a reasonable price of $2.50 to $3.80.

my sis and i had the durian premier slice, $3.50 (front) and durian coil, $4 (back). while their forms may differ, they tasted the same, so you might as well order the premier slice which is cheaper. however, i have to admit that they are generous with the durians and it was very rich.

we also decided to try their ice blended durian durian, $3.80. it was dismal. until the very last drop, we had no idea what it tasted like. there was very little durian taste, seemed more like those sugary syrup you get in canned longans. when you take on a name like durian mpire, you better be sure you offer the best durian products in the market. this was far beyond disappointment.

the place also offers durian buffet on weekdays at $30/person. varieties of durians are subjected to availability and reservation is required. visit 717 trading website for more information.
