a day of rest for the wicked

i'm so glad my internet is up! there was an accumulation of things to blog about and i'm just going to break them down by pieces. first up, a course i went to with a few colleagues just before i shifted house. it was a whole day course in town and we managed to have a fun day in spite of the boring subject.

early in the morning, R, S, A and i met at macs for breakfast. Z, who drove, picked us up in her sporty car and off we went!

no doubt we were hard at work, discussing and brainstorming, while multi-tasking. simultaneously, we were also busily munching down a bag full of sweets, courtesy of myself. we had kit kat, kinder bueno, m&m, mentos, twisties and mamee.

then it was a break for lunch! we only had an hour, which was such a downer as it was too little time for a good meal in town. we walked to great world city which was nearby and passed by R's house! more about that later.

i tried the pasta shop at the food court. as i was walking around, wondering what to eat, i saw this woman holding on to a plate of delicious looking pasta and my mind was made up.

as i do not like vegetables, which in my dictionary also includes fungi, those brown mushroom like things you see are actually sausages. a huge amount of pasta with a liberal dosage of basil leaves and chopped garlic. it was passable and good enough for two.

i added on (can't remember the amount) a bowl of soup and slice of garlic toast. the soup was bad. too thick and was already coagulating as i walked back to my table.

fortunately, we had time for dessert before our stroll back. absolutely adore the whyoghurt! it's healthy and tasty!
while walking to great world, we came across R's house, but didn't have time to take pictures due to the lack of time. however, we managed to make do during our return trip.

our dear friend stays at a road befitting most singaporeans!

her front door. rather spacious and easily recognisable.

the hospitable host who invited us to sit on her sofa.

and her transport to school every morning. no wonder she's never early! we had a fun time poking fun at her and were laughing all the way back.

the second part of the session was actually interesting! we were taught how to use videos in foreign language to engage NT kids. being rather NT-ish ourselves, our attempts to fold tees the japanese way with japanese instructions were rather hilarious.

we ended early and took the opportunity to go home and rest! which leads me to the second part.

i met mum and sis at bakerzin and while we were there, we saw a great offer for durian cakes! 30% off and an additional 10% if you were a member. with the 40% discount, the cake only came up to $30 plus. what a steal! since dad's birthday was nearing and my mum had already given him his present, we decided to use to as a small installment to his big day.

seeing that it wasn't durian season, it wasn't surprising that the cake had a measly spread of durian between the sponge cake layers. i expected better of bakerzin having tasted and loved most of their cakes. i would still stick to chocolate amer if i were to order a cake next time.
