shokudo and charly t's

haven't been updating regularly as mentioned by my sis but there hasn't been anything much to update except for this weekend.

let me digress a little first... i have been eating lots of ferrero rondnoir, provided by one of the senior teachers in school. much prefer it to the original because i detest nuts. some of my colleagues have been stealing from me (with evidence left)! obviously i'm not the only one loving it.

went out with my sis yesterday to catch some lunch and a movie before meeting our parents for diner.

we stopped at cineleisure shokudo and coincidently bumped into one of my students who's working there part time!

my apple vinegar (really sour) and my sis's iced lemon tea, which tasted more like sour plum.

beef udon which was so hot, i could see steam rising out from it for a while.

my sis ordered the set meal, which came with a soup, drink and a tiny mango pudding.

a treat from my student! lychee ice :) totally yummy!

then we went for our movie... rio...

still can't believe i sat in a movie about birds for about 1.5 hours. it wasn't fantastic as all my friends have told me. i think the standard of cartoons are falling. however, before the movie started, they played the trailer for kungfu panda 2, which was more memorable than the movie i sat in for!

then, we went to plaza singapura to shop a while before meeting parents at charly t's (between ps and the cathay).

the high ceiling and bright lights gave an illusion of a spacious area.

similar to fastfood restaurants, you have to place your order at the counter and pay first. the only difference is that the food will be delivered to you when ready. the meal wasn't very cheap. the bill came up to $74.35.

tuna salad, $12. dressing wasn't thick enough, seemed a bit watered down, couldn't really taste it.

half chicken, $24, came with three sides and three sauces. chicken was extremely tender! corn raisin salad was a bit sour, don't bother trying mac and cheese. only the roast potato was worth recommending. sauces (chermoula, chimi and charly t's orginal spicy sauce) were tasty but servings minute.

calamari, $9.50, promotional item. none of my family members enjoyed it. batter was not fluffy.

this was an absolute delight! the moroccan beef steak, $16, was very flavourful and worth eating!
