boracay: day 2

E
i woke up early while siyu the sleeping beauty was catching up on her sleep and decided to have a morning stroll on the beach by myself.

the beach was still quite empty at six in the morning, except for the locals cleaning the beach, setting up their stores and healthy tourists having their morning jog. it seemed safe as compared to the nights there when every hotel and restaurant have their security guards patrolling the areas.

went back to the hotel shortly after and got ready for the day. wonder what's the use of a pool when you have the beach at your doorstep?

breakfast was included in our stay. we had our breakfast across the road, at the restaurant which was on the beach.

siyu had burritos and orange juice.

i tried their local sausage with garlic rice and hot tea. instead of white rice, most of their dishes are served with garlic rice. i love garlic and definitely enjoyed eating the rice there!

next, we head out to the beach to take some jump shots.

siyu was an absolute failure at it haha. she had some really awkward poses which for the sake of our friendship, i did not upload them.

my favourite one of myself.

my favourite one of siyu! haha she looks like a monkey.

her most successful jump.

the water was extremely clear! even when we went in to the water till our armpits, we could still see clearly the colour of our toe nails!

not wanting to trek sand all over our hotel, we washed our feet first.

it then started raining and we went back to our hotel to watch some cable tv.

ok i was watching tv and siyu was sleeping. they have at least a hundred channels there! and all free.

this small islet has a cove with a mother mary statue, a popular picture spot. we didn't take any picture as we had to climb to the top and by the time we got there after lunch, there were many tourists there. surprisingly, the majority of the tourists there are koreans and taiwanese, and not westerners!

when the weather was clear again, we went out for lunch, after walking around, we decided to have jonah's again.

siyu had mango crepe. their mango is SWEET! no sugar needed.

i had a huge plate of beehoon, which i had to share with siyu or else i wouldn't be able to finish it by myself.

we went tanning after filling our tummies. beach towels provided free by our hotel.

a stone-carved ten commandments.

after tanning, we decided to do some activity and chose parasailing! it was siyu's first time. lucky for us, we had rev, a very helpful and trustworthy staff at the hotel. most of the operators on the beach were offering 2000 pesos (60 sgd), the lowest 1500 (50 sgd). rev called around for us and found one that offered us 1250 pesos!

we had to take a speedboat out the water activity centre.

there, we waited for the parasailing boat to pick us up.

while on the boat, waiting for them to hook us up to the parachute, i told siyu she reminded me of captain caveman from the flintstones, with her hair flying all around. see the resemblance?

we left our cameras with the guys and they helped us take some beautiful shots.

we were that high up! at first it was quite scary as the wind was blowing quite strongly, but after a while, you can't help but be in awe of the beautiful landscape.

we were dipped into the ocean! i was screaming my lungs out, picturing sharks with their jaws open waiting for us, fish food. great imagination.

we went back to bathe and cool down from all the hot sun before going out for dinner.

we splurged this time on filipino food, picking a popular restaurant, guilly's.

the service was rather bad, as it was a buffet and ala carte restaurant and most of the patrons there had buffet and we ala carte, so the staff wasn't really looking out for us. we had to wave a few times before we got their attention.

the food also took quite a while to come and they came all at once. but, it was a damn good meal! excluding the grilled chicken platter which we selected, the fish and kang kong were recommended by the staff there. it was delicious and we were glad we chose this restaurant.

our company for the meal. lots of ants on our table and we had to sacrifice a small onion to distract them from our wonderful meal.
