boracay: day 3 i woke up at five plus, hoping to catch some sunrise. only to make a trip down there and to be told by the staff that you can't view the sunrise from this side of the island. what a bummer. our second day of breakfast and what did we have? i had corned beef. prior to ordering, i asked them what was corned beef, having never tried it before. the staff answered me "meat of a cow". wow. anyway, after trying it, i don't think i'll ever eat it again. it looked and tasted scary. siyu had her american breakfast, which she was really craving for. we sat at the beach chairs right outside the restaurant to chill, savour our fruitshakes and gossip. and then, after people watching for some time, we decided to do some shopping. the happening part of the beach was actually 50m away from our hotel, separated by some isolated land, which was not lit at night. rather frightening, we made sure we walked with other tourists. however, there was no such problem during the day. that was the only downside of staying at jony's. it was far away from the action. we had lunch at this cheap fastfood place, andok's. a chicken rice set costs only 49 pesos (1.50 sgd)! after buying some 7d dried mangoes (130 pesos for 200g) and never seen before in singapore kettle chips flavours, we headed for some atv action! once again, rev managed to find for us another good rate for this activity (750 pesos). after several unsuccessful tries on the atv, my engine kept stalling and siyu was afraid to accelerate, they switched us over to the buggy, which later proofed to be not much of a safe choice either. safety gear for atv, which we took off when we went over to the buggy. we took turns driving. siyu's fear! we were bypassing this work zone, when a stupid lorry continued to squeeze in despite it being a narrow lane. i had to swerve more to the right (which siyu was on, seeing that it's left-hand drive there) and knocked into the cones, almost falling into the ditch! she took a picture to commemorate her close shave with death. beware of unknown pit stops. they took us up the mountain to this viewpoint which was not agreed beforehand. we chose not to go up though and siyu took over the driver's seat. while it was a four-wheel drive, we were driving on the main road. -_-". yes, even if we had chosen the atv, we would have plied the same route. and needless to say, we were inhaling diesel exhaust fumes from the guide's atv the whole way. siyu thought her snot would turn black from all the smoke. it was damn dusty too. we couldn't wait to return to the hotel to bathe. we cleaned ourselves and headed out for dinner! we settled on ole, a crowded mexican restaurant on the happening beach. siyu thought the reason why they were so crowded was because the waitresses dressed like those we find in hooters. we had cranberry juice, which tasted more like plum juice. delicious and humongous plate of nachos! and an even bigger plate of seafood and chicken angel hair paella (559 pesos for a serving for 2). our original serving per person. we could have split the original plate nicely into four portions. after eating. we could have place everything back onto the plate, arranged nicely and sell it off to someone else. the paella was good but we were too full from the nachos. even the people sitting at the table next to us were amazed by how huge the plate was. yup, that's all for our second last day.
