sushi tei + bakerzin had a really bad experience at sushi tei during the weekend. we went to the branch at vivocity for dinner. lo and behold, there's a long queue. what's new? so as we were queuing, we looked through the glass panes into the new extension (for those who don't know, they have taken out the small store and put in extra seats) and noticed there were 5 empty tables. as the waitress was walking down the line and inquiring number of seats, we asked her that. me: why are there empty tables but no one was being seated? waitress: we seat people by sections me: are you going to wait for an entire section to be free before allowing customers in? wouldn't it be better if people are seated even if they can't order? it would definitely be easier on our legs and it wouldn't cause a congestion outside the restaurant. waitress: that's not how we do things here extremely inflexible and their staff needs to be trained in service orientation. now you know why their queues are always so long. it's not because the restaurant is crowded. it's because of the inefficiency of the staff. surprisingly (or maybe not), once we sat and ordered, the food came almost immediately. i do agree sushi tei has one of the best food among all the sushi chains, but i do not think it justifies the lousy service. after sushi tei, we headed to bakerzin for dessert. mum had pumpkin soup at first (she was coughing badly that day and didn't want anything cold). however, there was a hair in the soup and she made a big fuss (i would have just fished it out and carried on drinking) and wanted a change. in the end, she got mushroom soup. as you know, bakerzin has really good soup. thick, rich and creamy, thus, i wouldn't go into all the details. i've been wanting to try this (jivara cake) since they changed their menu, but i never did have the opportunity. the cake has a crunchy praline bottom (tastes like ferrero rocher) and topped with chocolate mousse. it was too heavy for me, might be ok if shared, but i ate the whole thing myself. but one for chocolate lovers! lastly, chocolate souffle. my sis had this previously and loved it. so she' had it again. the souffle did not rise very well, quite lopsided. but the flavour, texture and taste were good, especially when complemented with the ice cream. |
