dinner with mum at ajinomori

previously when my clique went to ajinomori for dinner, i didn't realise it was the very restaurant that i bought my bigdeal.sg voucher for. i got the voucher for $29.80 for a ten-course set lunch/dinner.

first dish: fried salmon skin, of which we didn't eat a lot. i've never fancied fish skin, fried or otherwise.

second dish: baked scallops with caviar. my mum felt it was lukewarm and had probably been prepared much earlier.

not a part of the set meal, the yuzu tea that my clique loved during our visit. $4/cup, comes hot or cold.

third dish: fried pork with melted cheese. i didn't even know there was cheese until my mum bit hers into half and we could see the cheese.

fourth-seventh dish: honey marinated pork belly, stuffed chicken wings, beef short ribs on skewer and shitake mushroom on skewer. these were probably the best dishes of the night. the pork was especially good!

eight dish: maki nomo (assorted maki). my mum loved the salmon one, she said the salmon was seared perfectly.

ninth dish: orange gratin. it was kind of weird. it was the last dish so we thought it was a dessert but it was some sort of milky fruit and shrimp concoction.

the tenth dish was of course, rice to accompany all the other dishes. overall, my mum thought that the friends restaurant deal was much better as some of the dishes here were not up to her expectations. so i guess we wouldn't be patronising this place much as a family.

*bleah, i didn't go to my jc gathering or natas fair
