friends--the food and wine people dad, mum and i went to friends @ jelita for some good food. we kind of abandoned my sis as it's really hard to coordinate an available time with her, so we left her the bigdeal voucher to eat in her own time.   the restaurant was kind of understated and smaller than expected. behind it's unpretentious facade were these superbly great meals. my $15 bigdeal voucher entitled us to a 5 course meal of their chef's signature items. also, i received a 1-1 pear cider voucher and we redeemed it that day. we did browse through the menu and their food in general isn't very expensive.  the cider was like a champagne, extremely effervescent and not very fruity.  i totally loved their angel hair pasta appetiser. it was marinated in truffle oil, tossed with konbu and chive and topped with caviar. unique and we simply couldn't get enough of it.  their mushroom soup was very thick and could be compared to that of soup spoon and dozo.  the main course was their sakura chicken breast, served on a scoop of mashed potatoes. not loving the choice of meat (i'm more of a thigh kind of person) but i do have to admit that the cut was very tender.  cappucino cheesecake was the dessert of the day. the serving was puny, but i was already more than full from the first 3 courses.  we ended off with coffee and tea. a very satisfying meal at friends restaurant :) would definitely go back for the angel hair pasta as well as to try their steak. |
