heading to a happening weekend

i had a great weekend :) hands down. looking back, i'm amazed that i was able to do so many things in the middle of a school term, with markings coming in and common test round the corner.

first of all, i organised a bbq for my colleagues from the english department as well as my good friends from other departments. however, only people from the english deparment turned up, as well as ivy, one of my practicum mates. we had a fun time starting the fire (ok that was not so fun, kind of like cavemen trying to spark a fire with rocks) and cooking our food.

pictures taken after land tour (to my house). some of them had left already. we were thinking of doing this every three months to chill, have fun and destress.

second on the itinerary was an excerise-cum-hang-out (to work those flabby arms and thighs) with my clique. we thought of many activities to do--rollerblading at east cost, ice-skating at marina bay sands--but in the end, we went bowling at the chevrons instead.

we had to call and book two lanes because the bowling alley is usually very crowded, true enough, by the time we got there, the only two lanes left unoccupied were the two lanes left for us.

siyu has the weirdest bowling style.

ok my arms were aching after the first game :( how weak!

lenard clocked the fastest speed. the system actually tabulates how fast your ball is rolling and flashes it on the screen above.

kenneth was the best bowler among all of us. i suspect he bowls in his free time.

nessa was on a winning streak.

so was her boyfriend bryan.

you could also choose the theme of your screen! it was very fun to customise the screen and our nicks. check them out:

we came up with loser lenard, gutter lady, gutter lover, totally guttering, strike coming and many more lame options.

here are the rates for the bowling alley:

do bring along your safra card for discount. for more information on orchid bowl, visit this website.

after bowling, we were feeling peckish and drove down to holland village for some dinner. lenard felt like eating japanese and we found a new restaurant called ajinomori.

the restaurant offered outdoor seating, traditional japanese style tables and booths.

look at the fresh and thickly sliced sashimi. the assorted sashimi (6 types) cost $39.

from left, clockwise: beansprout appetiser, garlic fried rise, teppanyaki beef and kimchi pork nabe. the appetiser was sour and salty, we didn't really like it. the garlic fried rice was very fragrant and appetising. the beef was overcooked. the kimchi nabe was delicious!

instead of the normal green tea, they had citron (yuzu) tea. very yummy! i had the calpis soda which tasted like original flavoured yakult with soda water.

complimentary desssert, caramelised egg custard pudding, from the chef.

will not trade my weekend for anything in the world!
