day of gluttony 
it was national day celebration in school yesterday, so i donned on the expected red. but no way am i going red and white, looking like national flag in town. wore my favourite red zara top with lovebonito's tube midi :) 
absolutely loving S's ensemble. her flowy long sleeved top matched with a royal purple tube and leggings. looking like a fairy princess! anyways, on to the actual day. it's been ages since i've met up with vic! true, i read her blog and catch up with her on social media, but it's so different, getting together and goofing around. 
first, on the day of constant eating was watami @ ion orchard. lil was my other companion for the whole day. 
the beef nabe was salty :( 
we also tried this egg pancake with cheese, pork and cabbage. rather interesting. tastes like the flour pancake and the cheese was all gooey and stretchy! 
we ordered a set meal for 2 @ $49, but the three of us couldn't finish everything. which was really surprising that we moved on to arteastiq @ mandarin gallery later! it was vic's and lil's first time. totally enjoy bringing new converts to that place. 
the orange cake, $8.50, was delicious as usual. 
vic had the cold lychee tea, $11, which was as good as the hot one i usually have. 
i tried this horrible, awful, strong hawaiian hibiscus tea, which came (to my horror) totally black. i kind of pictured something refreshing, reddish and sweet. it helped to put some lemon in it, but i couldn't even finish a cup. it was that bad. 
lil had a coffee blency, which came in two separate cups! 
immediately after, we met lenard for dinner at tampoppo @ taka. 
lenard's sushi sashimi platter, $23. 
my wagyu beef udon, $23.80. but i was a $23.80 well-spent! the beef was medium rare, udon so soft and chewy and the soup, don't get me started. i'm craving another bowl! 
following that, since lenard was still hungry, we went to twg @ ion orchard, which i've been wanting to try since forever. 
they had a wide selection of teas from all over the world! 
bryan dropped in again! he did once at arteastiq too! 
the lychee tea smoothie was very strong. lenard didn't finish it. 
the raspberry chocolate was fine. but the macaroons... omg! they are the best i've ever had, especially the mint one (i'm biased). the caramel was sweet, coconut passionfruit interesting and blackcurrant a tangy combination of sweet and sour. the blue thing's a silly putty i found at kinokuniya @ taka. it costs $3 and was really amazing. it stretches and makes a clean snap, doesn't leave an oily feeling. good to keep kids occupied, adults too. 
anyway the macaroons were so good, i got a box home with every flavour @ $12 for my sis! Labels: food, friends, shopping |
