interesting family

that day at the hawker centre i chanced upon an interesting family:

the two sons (upper primary to lower secondary):
playing their gameboys continuously, not even pausing to order their food. why would they have to when their own mother was on her iphone the whole time and that they have a servant, opps, maid at their beck and call? apparently, they weren't even aware they were at a hawker centre, seeing that they kept asking their maid to order teppanyaki for them.

the mother:
overly tweezed eyebrows and a face with a perpetual frown, who announced loudly that she was boycotting a stall because someone cut her queue, even her own sons didn't see the logic in that and continued playing their gameboys. in another instance of sterling behaviour, she made her maid sit at a separate table from the family and did not allow her to eat.

the servant aka maid:
the poor girl seemed lost the entire time, standing at her separate table, waiting for instructions from the IT-engrossed family. the very fact that she was on her feet for a very long time, did not occur to the other three people that she is human and needed to eat as well.

is this what singaporean families will be like in the future? it is definitely foreboding.
