what a weekend! spent the whole weekend staying at waterfront copthorne... wasn't as good as it sounded... my mum was snoring the whole night & then she turned the aircon to 30 degrees (ya might as well open the windows)... so she was the only one who managed to get a good night sleep -_-"... the temperature was solved by tuning the temperature down, but the snoring... well nothing much i could do about it... it was like being a tourist for a weekend, just slacking at the hotel... then only going places near the hotel for things we need e.g. great world city for snacks & breakfast at tiong bahru hawker centre... the prawn mee at the hawker centre is good! so huge it's good for 2 and it's only 3 bucks! went to cedele for lunch... they had set lunch even during weekends... very good! the set's $19.50 for pasta, includes soup, drink & main course... we ordered boston clam chowder, some chicken clear soup, orange juice, black pepper crab pasta, grilled white fish pasta & chilli prawn aglio olio...  this is the white fish that i got... the fish is very fresh, seasoning very unique... pasta's just as good too! it's a must try! everyone who ate seafood said the crab pasta was the best among the 3 we had (so it must be real good coz my pasta was delicious)... this afternoon we went to watch Mika Häkkinen drive f1 car with mike & joyce... it was really hot! i think i got a good tan today haha...    dad holding the golden ticket! u need that to get onto the grandstand...  Häkkinen getting into a mercedes car... sorry my pictures aren't clear, coz i only had my hp & it doesn't have a good zoom...  the police force band...  wicked aura... i love their performance! it was really upbeat & got the crowd moving...  the lights that will be used during the night race...  THE CAR, which is blocked by the camera man -_-"...  this irritating couple who was sitting in front kept holding their umbrella real high up & blocked the views of people sitting behind... we even told them to keep it down but they kept holding it high up, which i dun see the point... what they have imaginery 30 cm extra height? yup as u can see the quality of my camera is not so good & it's pretty obvious after several try that the shutter speed is definitely not that fast that it can catch an f1 car, so i took videos! enjoy! yup that's all folks! im tired & going to zzzz.... meiyi's bdae went with farah to get her hamster on thu at jurong point... it's a cute normal winter & super duper active... haha it was the only one awake.. kept swimming in the tank & it was wheeling like crazy! dun know what's her name now... the last time i heard, it was dirty betty (who says i give my hamsters weird names)...  this is the happy girl eating lunch with me on tues at lerk thai... i love aircon & cheap food! anyway never judge a book by its cover... u see her here look so innocent but she's horny! i think farah, u beat siyu in that category! on the way to the pet shop, she was like explaining diff body types of athletes & she was salivating!!!!! xxxxxx yesterday night, we went to grand shanghai for dinner to celebrate meiyi's bdae... had a grand time of eating & later dancing at king's copthorne (pictures will have to wait for qi to upload, we did lots of crazy shots & my phone can't take good pics in the dark)...  this is the band playing at dinner... the lady sang really well... like the olden chinese songs with a bit of jazz in it... halfway through our dinner, they switched singers & the new one sounded like she sang ge tai...  my family... we were early...  from left: weiliang, qi, meiyi (birthday ) & yijiong...  they ordered a crab dish & qi was trying to use this tool which we have never seen before, provided for us (you know, usually they only have the pincer thing)... ya as you can see, she's not really using it the proper way... instead of using it to dig out meat in the legs, she dismantled her whole crab haha...   the food was really nice there... we ordered garlic pork, long beans (i think it's their signature dish), 2 cod dishes (i love them!), crab, chicken, peking duck, prawns with salted egg & these 2 pork dishes... ya i took pictures of the only 2 dishes which were NOT NICE! the pork was seriously tasteless... but everything else was terrific...  here's the birthday girl with her cake! the lady on stage sang a birthday song for her!  ya i was trying to make my eyes look big, but as you can see, i actually look spastic... & if u think this is a crazy shot, you should see the pics we flooded qi's camera with! xxxxxx mum book a night at waterfront copthorne, so will just be chilling this weekend! we'll be going to see f1 cars tmr, mike got 4 extra ticks! wooohoo! barrage this post is so long overdue i have too many things to say that cant be included... so i'm just going to put the more significant things... dad came home from japan, we went to fetch him at the new terminal 3, which my sis & i were so longing to see & tot, wow, we finally have a chance! but guess what? nothing was opened at 2am... so we were basically just walking around the empty airport, trying to keep ourselves awake...  yup that was how empty it was... my sis brought her camera & i brought along my appetite for nothing -_-"... my dad bought some jap goodies home (coz i think he was traumatised by our reactions the last time he tried to buy clothes from jap from us)... and there was this chocolate which was super duper yummy, even my sis who hates white choc hoards it!     this choc has 2 thin crispy layers of biscuit sandwiching the white choc... it's so nice coz everything is slim, so the white choc is not too overpowering with its sweetness & there's a bit of everything... i'm still searching whether they sell this in singapore coz it's seriously running out & i want more! last night, my family & i had our most expensive meal... we went to margarita's with joyce & mike & we spent $414!!! wa!!! but it was really a good meal... everytime we go there, we're pleasantly surprised by the food, never disappointed :)  while waiting for joyce & mike to turn up, my sis & i ordered virgin margaritas, strawberry for her & raspberry for mine (raspberry was the daily special, not on the menu)... they were delicious! my dad had virgin colada, which was not bad either... we left our whole meal in the hands of the owner, mr yap, so we had absolutely no idea what was going to appear... his recommendations always turn up good & this time was no exception... i didn't take pictures of our food coz i was really hungry, i was gobbling them up as soon as they touched the table... since mike's vegetarian, he had a dish specially for himself... the rest of us shared this jalapenos starter, it was deep fried, wrapped in light cheese & flour... never had that in my whole life & i loved it! then there was lobster quesidilla, grilled snowfish (daily special, but if they still have it, MUST TRY), slow roasted pork with tortilla & coffee beef (ooolala)...  this is another daily specials, dessert margarita mousse... i didn't really like it coz the tequila they poured over it was too much for me, but my dad loved it... he finished most of the 2 we had...  the brownie is really good & it's a safe choice if u're not really daring... the choc sauce is so thick! i was practically licking the plate... needless to say, we were really full at the end of the meal... this morning we went to video ezy warehouse sale at toa payoh... and we bought loads of vcds! lotr, friends, harold & kumar, sound of music, uptown girls, polar express & so on... and we spent $105!  with every $50 spent, u get a free popcorn, so as u can see, my sis's really loving it! we have no idea when we're going to watch the vcds, prob after the semester... but what the hell, it was CHEAP! seems like my family's spending alot this week haha... not a successful invention since fatter mummy doesn't like the leash... i tried it on silly billy & fatter baby... both of them didn't like it either... (a) similar to fatter mummy, it took numerous tries on silly billy before i got it on & he was so skinny, it just slipped through... (b) fatter baby, on the other hand, was more cooperative in getting it on, but it too slipped off... (c) fatter mummy didn't like the leash, but at least it stays on... so my conclusion is that hamster don't like to be restricted by the leash & it only works on really really fat hamsters... food for thought went out with qi & sis today to food for thought, which they have been raving about so much... it's this quaint little eatery near bugis junction... u can't help but notice the array of desserts on display when u walk past the window...  i started of with a pasta... i think it's the special of the week... basil pesto chicken pasta... it's really good... the pasta is done just nice (not overcooked like most cafes)... the pesto sauce though herby, is not overpowering... it comes with a side salad and sundried tomatoes (which my sis luuurvveesss)...  qi had the combination for 1, which is choosing 2 of the 3 (salad, soup or sandwich)... she had the slow roasted pull pork sandwich, which is a house sandwich & a chef's recommendations... u have to try it if u go there! it comes with a homemade bbq sauce, but it's tastes different from normal bbq sauce that u eat... it's sweet & not spicy, very easy on the taste buds...  my sis on the other had had the basil pesto chicken sandwich (yes it's the same chicken as my pasta)... both qi & her opted for the chinese chicken caesar salad, which doesn't (as the name suggests) have any caesar sauce! it comes with soya braised eggs & anchovies... really unique!  on to the desserts... i think the picture paints a thousand words! it's chocolate malteser cake... the cake is soft & layered with bananas... there's not a better combination than chocolate & banana! heard from my sis that they always have it there, so be sure to try it!  i had the durian mousse cake... it's not bad... to me, all durian cakes taste almost the same... one thing good about this cake is that the durian is properly infused into the mousse, so u dun cake durian chunks, which i think would really ruin the smoothness of the cake...  my sis had the weekly specials... peach cobbler... as u can see it comes with a huge scoop of ice cream... the vanilla ice cream is a bit too milky for my taste... i think the crust is nice, but there was so little of it! my sis didn't really like it coz it was all fruits, instead of having some pastry in it... seriously u should go down & try it if u haven't! it's a cafe with a local twist, so even ur grandmas will probably enjoy it haha... after lunch, while walking back to the mrt station, we noticed this pet shop & guess what? i found what i was looking for all the while (after seeing chmurka)... a hamster leash!  guess who i tried it on? fatter mummy! but she didn't really like it... the first time i tried to put it on her, she actually jumped off the top of her cage! then later with my sis's help (probably about 10 tries later) we managed to get it on...  not very successful though... she kept trying to get it off & biting the leash haha! |
