ichiban finally i managed to try the new (ok not very new, but still considered as new to me) $5 tea time set meal at ichiban. it's from 3.30-5.30pm, so naturally i couldn't find time while i was working, but now that i'm not working, i'll probably be dropping by very frequently!   my sis's meal (from top left, clockwise): breaded chicken, red bean mochi, sashimi roll and chawanmushi.  my meal (from top left, clockwise): chawanmushi, breaded chicken, peanut mochi and beef handroll. they were very generous with the ingredients. for example, my beef handroll had beef all the way till the very last bite. this is unlike the usual handroll, where you only get ingredients on top. you can also see from the picture that my sis's handroll had an abundance of sashimi too. i'm not very partial to the red bean mochi as i don't really like red bean, but the peanut one is delicious! soft outer layer and lots of peanut inside. the only thing i'm not happy about is the breaded chicken. i love any kind of fried chicken, but this chicken is quite tasteless and the breaded layer is a tad too thick. that said, it's definitely worth the $5 and more! the service was quite slow there, had to keep waving, but then if you were eating at this period of time, you'll probably not be in a rush. we ate at the jurong point outlet. please refer to their website for other ichiban outlets. the glasshouse but first an update of my weekend. went to old airport road for dinner with my family and relatives. it was kind of a bit of everything with loads of otah.  yijiong, qi and weiliang enjoying their meal.  a must try. this is the one thing i always have to eat there, chicken aglio olio, $4.50. it's big enough for 2 to share. #01-81.  my sis's award winning photo is now showing at geylang library. xxxxxx last night had a meet-up with my clique at the glasshouse. love meeting up with the guys (general term)! although we only do it once in a while, we still have fun every time.  nessa and bryan.  me and lil.  couple shot 1: nessa and bryan.  couple shot 2: tau and sharon.  couple shot 3?!?   u can tell we dun look good with center parting.  blinding smiles from the ladies.  the guys look like they've been to a rowdier party.  stickers with love from sharon.   i love these 2 shots!!!   smaller group shots before moving on to... 4 christmases  caught 4 christmases at vivocity yesterday with my sis. she wanted to watch quarantine, but i was in no mood to watch something that intense, so i sprang for the movie. and it was a good choice! something light hearted befitting the holiday season. surprisingly (to me), reese witherspoon and vince vaughn had lots of on screen chemistry. be prepared for some heart warming and also comical moments in this movie! i want my condo back i hate staying at my new house (ok almost a year old, but still not home). no peace and quiet at all. after 2 peaceful nights at my genting hotel, the noise level here just seems magnified. incessant screeching of children, uninterrupted ping pong balls bouncing around and airplanes overhead every few minutes. makes me wake up in perpetual headache, which equates to bad mood. @ 08:45
genting trip day 1 we woke up early friday morning, as in 5am early, to catch the coach to genting. first time i sat a bus of this sort aka reclining seats and movies channels. it was spacious, albeit a bit old, seeing that we booked too late to catch the premium ones.  my downstairs gang: biaojie, adrienne, korkor (hidden by his wife), yima, grannie and peiyi.  after hours of numbed butt, we've finally reached first world hotel.  this is the indoor theme park area.  our first meal at genting. the food was ex (11rm for a chicken rice), serving was small and it tasted horrible. this actually set the tone for the whole trip. everything in genting is overpriced now, especially food. it is safer to order fast food.   my lazy bum cuz sprawled on our bed.  the twins, qi and i bought the unlimited indoor ride ticket (26rm), which was totally a waste of money. the queues were long and the rides not worth the wait. it would be better to add an extra 12rm to buy the outdoor one, where the rides are more thrilling.  guan who sat the ferris wheel in spite of his fear of heights.  this is the carousal which we got chased off. the staff at genting have serious attitude problem. we didn't know it was supposed to be only for kids. he still checked our tickets and waved us in, then later subject us to public humiliation by chasing us off the horses. for dinner, we had ah yat seafood, courtesy of meiyi and yijiong. they ordered the 980rm++ meal and the first few dishes, which were coincidently the expensive ones (suckling pig, shark fin & abalone) were all served cold. when my aunt and uncle complained, the manager (also with serious attitude problem) just assured us that the food were served warm. in the end, they gave us a measly 5% discount. really not impressed by the standard. our trip was not off to a good start. day 2 this is a chicken day for me. after breakfast at kfc (chicken porridge), we went for unlimited rides at the outdoor theme park. we conquered almost all the rides. the flying dragon, cyclone, rolling mine train, flume ride, pirate train...  the corkscrew.   the spinner.  and then we were hit by fog (reminded me of the book, the mist). thus, we decided to have lunch.  marrybrown fried chicken. the chicken seasoning is almost as good as kfc, but kfc is more tender.   we sat the flying coaster, 12rm, the newest attraction. it was the best ride in the whole theme park. not scary at all, but very fast and exciting. definitely more than worth the price.  we decided to hit the carnival. only qi and jun won prizes.  on the way to collect our cyclone ride picture, we went to beryl's chocolate wonderland, a chocolate shop and more!      the shop occupied only a small corner. they spent a lot on decorations, but that was what drew our attentions and spendings.   one of our last rides was the toboggan. we queued up very long for this (approximately 35 mins) because the staff continuously let some special pass people cut the queue. the ride is really unique, never seen in other theme parks. they used the concept of water theme park rides but with wheels instead. there was absolutely no control, just spiraling down at lightning speed.   and we were hit by the fog again. so we headed back to our hotel rooms.  but not before we got bey-loons!!!  sorry qi, dun know why our movie can't be uploaded.     after our dinner at mushroom farm (shit load of msg), we were beset by the fog again. that's 3 times in one day. took the chance to take lots of photo. day 3 our last day started out with sunny skies. we sat flying coaster twice before we left. even managed to persuade the "older generation", biaojie, korkor and meiyi to sit on it too!  overall, while i enjoyed my trip with my maternal side, i would not choose to go genting again. it's super expensive and extremely crowded. i prefer open spaces and fresh air. special adrienne section loads of pictures of my beautiful niece, who still wouldn't let me carry her!  adrienne with the balloons we got for her.  adrienne who doesn't want her mum to steal her limelight.  adrienne doing the boogy, grooving to my mp3.  adrienne's baby fat.  last but not least, adrienne having oodles of fun with us at the back of the coach. |
