bonga korean restaurant

joyce and mike treated us to bonga at dempsey on sunday. they read reviews that it's better than chang (which standard has dropped).

it was an authentic korean restaurant, with bbq and ala carte.

one negative thing is that you have to self serve for drinks e.g. water, tea and coffee. joyce said it's a normal practice in korea. the cups there are really pretty though.

our cooking marinted beef ribs.

the 8 side dishes, of which i didn't try any. not so much of a herbivore.

this is really something unique. it was served before our meal. something sour and cold (there's ice it in). quite refreshing.

this is an absolutely delicious dish. marinated beef. joyce said in korea, it's usually marinated with honey, garlic and finely chopped spring onion. very good! especially when you wrap it in vegetable, onion and chilli.

my sis's bi bim bab. it was quite pricey, i think it was $23. my sis said it was not as good as ju shin jung's.

our second bbq meat was marinated pork. it was quite fatty and not as good as the beef.

common in most korean restaurants, they served cinnamon tea after the meal. i never liked the taste of the tea. it's sickening sweet!

dessert was fruits. i've never tried starfruit before and it was not a good experience. as my sis mentioned, it's like a weird tasting orange. but joyce said she had better, so maybe this is a one off thing.

after this, we had ice-cream at ben & jerry's. first time at the dempsey outlet. really crowded. the layout of the place was spacious and the ceiling's very high. love my cookie dough! talking about that, i didn't manage to go for free cone day today. my sis had hers at novena and she said she queued for 40 mins. is it really worth it?
