biaojie's birthday at dozo it's been really long since i've updated. firstly, because of my busy schedule and can't seem to find the time to blog. but most importantly, blogger has taken off everything (photo uploader, video uploader, basic formatting of paragraphs, font, colour, etc). so basically, it's now very inconvenient to blog. i have to resort to using flickr and that's altogether another matter, but still troublesome. so here's the long awaited post from last weekend. it was biaojie's 30th birthday and we celebrated with her at dozo. mum and sis waiting in our private room for the vip to arrive. my pretty niece! she's posing for me. the appetiser has changed. it used to be noodle sticks, which were yummy. this is not so bad, the sauce is a bit salty and sweet. but i prefer the noodle sticks. as usual, the mango drink before the meal. never fail to refresh. simply love this picture of mother and daughter. so loving! chef's seasonal platter. still the same. i tried the smoked salmon and i still stick to my mantra that salmon should be eaten raw. my father and sis finished mine for me. had my favourite stewed beef tendon. this time they complimented it with risotto for me. absolutely delicious together. look at her cheeky grin. adri in action, playing the balloon that the waiter gave her. crab bisque. korkor and dad had it. i had triple beef that day. double boiled beef consomme. wonder why i always order the mushroom soup. this soup is light, yet the beef taste is unmistakable. adri at window looking at the cars going by. sis's cod fish. she felt that the size was puny. biaojie's and mum's lamp shank. they on the other hand, felt it was too big and the mutton taste heavy. tried the fruity refresher this time instead of my apple melody. think all their iced drinks are good. definitely must try tao's soon! big problem have not been able to upload any pictures on blogspot, which is a total bummer. i'm such a visual person, just not used to my posts not having any pictures. anyway, i've finally managed to catch ice age 3 with my sis (who's back from cambodia). the movie's really funny but after watching the trailers on the official website, i've basically covered all the funny parts even before entering the cinema. love scrat! he's so adorable and predictable. and i thought this show would be a flop (since most trilogies start with a boom and end with a psst), but it's surprisingly good! the characters all melded very well together. even the inclusion of new characters was well thought through. changing of subject. caught the english and chinese news just now and there were so many blunders. the connection between the station and the representative filming somewhere else was really bad. the newscaster had to keep calling the representative. and this happened for about 30 seconds. can you imagine? 30 seconds of dead air. happened twice, across 2 stations. how bad is that? mos burger apple pie there seems to be a problem with blogger. can't upload any pictures since this morning. so guess will have to make do with a picture-less post. did u know mos burger changed their apple pie? i didn't! instead of their special small bits, they have altered their recipe to a macdonald's imitation. and a poor one at that. it was a full pie and it was very oily. it didn't even taste like pie, more like meat. additionally it is very overpriced ($1.80). sphgss gimmick the sph great singapore sale shop and win challenge is a gimmick. went down today on behalf of my father because he's overseas. he received an sms "congrats, you've been selected for sph gss shop and win challenge. 20 prices including subaru impreza car, tour, fridge, notebook, cameras, cash." when i went down today, there were about 200 other people who received the same message. so much for thinking i was one of the 20 people who would be getting the prizes. and later after queuing for a very long time (the queue went all the way outside of suntec), when i presented my dad's ic and letter to show i was coming on behalf of him, they said he had to come down personally and a letter and ic don't count. why couldn't they just choose the winners and get them to come down to collect the prizes instead of making so many people travel all the way when they would not even be going home with anything? it's so inconvenient, poorly organised and not thought through at all. i can't even think of any reason why they would want so many people there, especially during the flu period when we should be avoiding large crowds. sushi tei seems like a theme of family favourites! both my sis and mum are members of sushi tei. they love the food there and deem it better than sakae, genki or sushidon. for me, japanese food is just japanese food (which also means it seafood... yucks!), the family must have sashimi set-- salmon, kajiki, shrimps and scallop. my dad's favourite after inari-- japanese style calamari. the batter is quite good. too bad they don't have it with silver fish. something new we tried. seafood pasta. comes with one big prawn, several huge clams, squid rings and mini scallops. i couldn't stand the seafood stench, but obviously everyone else loved it. my meal-- yakiudon. quite a disappointment. the sauce was oily. had much better at sushidon.
