guma's birthday @ siam kitchen we celebrated guma's birthday at siam kitchen, jurong point. tried the food there once, not so long ago and found the food delicious, so i suggested it. we ordered the set for 6, which added up to $144.40 (after gst and service charge). there are sets for 4 and 8 too. the muchies which mum and i almost polished off waiting for the rest to arrive. goes really well with the chilli. family photo. mango salad. not bad, but i prefer the one at killiney road. pineapple fried rice. lots of prawns and seafood. my dad ate alot of this. the fishcakes. not very special but still good to eat. would be better if they had sweet chilli on the side for us to dip. seafood red curry. my sis loved this dish. the curry was more sweet than spicy, which was a godsend because the rest of the food was hot! sambal kang kong. as opposed to the usual chinese variety you have at zicha, this one doesn't have a very strong heibi hiam taste, which might be good depending whether you like it with or without. this was the best dish! the garoupa fish was sliced and fried, which made it much easier to eat. the coat was crispy and went really well with the chilli. cashew chicken. so-so. i prefer their basil chicken, but too bad it's not offered in the set menu. everyone had an individual bowl of seafood tom yam. this is one of the better tom yams i've had in singapore. it is really spicy (my eyes were tearing, lips were burning), but it's so good, you can't stop finishing it. i simply can't stress the generous amount of prawns we had in our meal! moneybag, of which i didn't have any. my sis said they tasted like spring rolls. papaya salad, which came really late. it's crunchy and my dad thinks, salty. we all prefer the mango one. sorry i forgot to take picture of the dessert which was grass jelly chendol. similar to the tom yam, everyone had an individual serving. very thick and rich, and sweet enough for everybody except my dad, the sweet tooth. he ordered extra sugar. we all loved the dessert, but were too full to finish it. look at the sheer amount of food we had. we were really full. this set is more appropriate for group of 8 actually, or if your party of 6 had 3 ravenous guys. such a pity, this outlet is closing down in 2 months time! guma's small birthday cake, which she brought home because she couldn't stuff anymore!
