hi to little india, bye to khansama it was an interesting day yesterday. totally revolved around food (yummy, my favourite). first we had a picnic during social studies class. the girls without melinda, who made delicious egg sandwiches. seriously, this woman should set up a bakery. old chunky's nuggests sponsored by huimin. melissa's chocolate muffins. old chunky's curry puff sponsored by dr. sim. it's really good (chicken, egg & potato), but too spicy for me. i prefer yam puff from a1. my social studies class. after school, the el-ss bunch headed to little india for some northern indian food at khansama tandoori restaurant, which i wouldn't recommend because this place is a rip off. the place was really dark. they should really do something about the lighting. salty lassi. it's really salty! weird combination when mixed with the heavy sour yoghurt. mango lassi. not my taste either. the yoghurt taste just overpowers and gets quite uninteresting after a while. spiced papadum. very peppery, different from the usual kind you get. they charged us $1 per piece for this and it came up to $8. the waiter just kept pushing us to order. very dishonest guy. he even gave us 2 orders of yoghurt sauce which we didn't use much and they cost $9. the food. can't really remember the names. some kind of briyani rice, butter curry prawns, mutton, chicken, aloo mattar (potatoes). the food is really good. what a pity i can't say the same for the people there. basket of naan, inclusive of 5 different varieties (butter, garlic, onion, etc). warm and very soft. must try! chicken, fish, mutton and prawn kebabs. wonderful mix and seasoning of meat and seafood. chicken tikka. the waiter tried to rip us off again for this. we were really full and only wanted to try one more dish and he tried to give us the whole chicken. lucky, michael checked the menu and told him we wanted the small one. can't remember the name of the dish. but it's a typical dessert you can find in most indian restaurants. it's too sweet for my liking though. shopping came after that. we needed to walk off our meal. ambiga brought us around. went to get melinda a punjabi suit for only $50 (she looks really good in it and it's so cheap!). next, we went to get casual indian tops from this small stall in tekka mall. lastly, after everyone left, ambiga, kanch & i went eyebrow threading ($5, so freaking cheap). can't wait to wear my new top next wed! our self declared racial harmony day haha. |
