the tastings room @ marina square i brought my family to the tastings room @ marina square during the weekend. it's actually located on the first floor, along the exterior of the shopping mall. they are having a set lunch menu at $13.90, which runs also on the weekend. the restaurant isn't very big, but is modern and tastefully designed. another promotion they are running is a pot of tea for $2.50. they have little bottles of samples for you to look and smell, with interesting flavours like chocolate mint and lemon ginger. i ordered the set meal, which was beef patty. it came with a choice of salad or soup, or dessert or drink. i chose the caesar salad and strawberry and cream ice cream. the salad was refreshing. diced tomatoes, with bits of hard boiled eggs, garlic croutons and leafy vegetables. sis's coffee. sis's poached egg benedict with hollandaise sauce and smoked salmon. mum's generously plied smoked salmon pizza. dad's medium rare and extremely tender ribeye. some of their main courses are going for 20% off! my hamburger. it came in a bagel! the bagel was toasted and crispy. my only qualm was that the hole in the middle made it really difficult to hold the burger together. the dessert of the day was really minute. look at the cranberries! moving on to desserts... chocolate durian cake. felt that the cake was a bit too sweet. the warm banana cake was a hit among all of us. we could choose a scoop of ice cream to go along with the cake and we chose hokey pokey. all cakes are imported from new zealand and hokey pokey really reminded me of the ice creams we had there. the banana cake was very rich and tasty :) |
