day 3: kuala lumpur to singapore it was a traveling day for us. woke up, bathed, had breakfast, returned to room to pack up and off we went. we decided to skip the cab and took the monorail to kl sentral instead. the station was very hot and stuffy, and the shelter across the platform didn't help. the waiting time for the monorail (which is similar to the lrt in singapore) is about 3 to 5 minutes. as illustrated in the picture, the platform has safety guards to prevent people from accidentally or purposely stepping onto the tracks. the carriage is roomy and has lots of standing space. in fact, with our backpacks, we didn't obstruct anyone. i would recommend taking the monorail to kl sentral and not the other way because most of the crowd alight at the stop we were embarking from. so by the time we got on, it was quite empty. however, if you were to take the monorail from kl sentral, you'll be squeezing in with everyone else. the monorail station is just a short walk across the road from kl sentral. does this remind you of the old transit system? we had to purchase cards from the control station and insert it into the machine before turning the barrier (no, it's not automatic). got onto the skybus for a bumpy ride all the way to the airport. the driver was speeding like nobody's business. don't think they have speed limit there for buses. and notice the red's not limited to just the interior. after checking in, we decided to try mary brown for lunch. the meal was quite pricey (don't know if that's because of the location). it was about 10-15rm (sgd$4-6) a set, almost equivalent to fastfood in singapore. the concept of the restaurant seems to mimick kfc, mostly chicken, chicken burgers, mashed potatoes with soft drink. didn't feel it was very original and kfc's definitely better. didn't take any pictures but airasia had a wonderful promotion on board the plane! 2 krispy kreme donuts and a hot drink for only 9rm (sgd$3.70). bear in mind this rate is available on the plane and a usual hot drink costs 7rm (sgd$2.90). however, this promotion is available only on certain flights (d7, ak and qz), so i can probably have it for the flight to indonesia!
