hong kong dec: part 3

we went out of hong kong and ventured into shenzhen on our third day! how much did i like shenzhen? hmmm...

we took the mtr to lowu (last stop on the light blue line), which took us right to the doorstep of the immigration customs.

we then took the rail at shenzhen to our hotel, which was just a stop away from the customs. the train was brand new.

instead of cards, the single journey ticket takes the form of a coin! you tap it like an ez-link card on the way in and slot it into the hole on your way out. taking the train there is cheap, around 40 cents to a dollar.

our hotel, friendship hotel, is just in front of the mtr, very accessible.

however the room was very dark. only two lamps and one spot light. couldn't even read my storybook. and the beds were hard. it's almost like sleeping on the floor with a blanket. the place gave me the creeps. in the middle of the night there were knocking sounds coming from the toilet so i went to sleep with my mum. lucky we were there for only a night.

the toilet was big, a bit old, but it didn't bother me as much as the room.

we headed out immediately after checking in to have lunch and go to the cultural village. we had korean food.

the korean restaurant was next to the cultural village. quite cheap actually and the food was not bad. our whole bill came up to 16sgd!

we moved on to the cultural village. it was a combination of miniature reproductions of famous spots in china and performances of the different tribal groups.

my mum went to join in the fun when they asked for volunteers.

we walked till i had blisters. same toe on both foot :( was extremely pain. fortunately, mum brought along slippers. never wearing crocs again for long walks.

after half a day at the cultural village, we headed to a shopping district near our hotel for some foot pampering and dinner. had a pedicure done there at only 2sgd!

bringing along our bubble tea, we headed back to the hotel for some zzzz.
