hong kong dec: part 4 as you can tell i'm back from malaysia! will be continuing the posts on my hong kong trip, so we're picking off from shenzhen. we had breakfast at one of the alleys behind our hotel. it was really crowded, most people taking away their food. the queue was constantly moving and yet remained just as long. the food was prepared on the spot, so everything was fresh and piping hot! our whole breakfast, very tasty and filling, cost us... only 1sgd!!! can you believe it? we went shopping at kingsglory, the shopping centre right above the train station. pretty high end stuff, therefore we didn't really shop much. we had an incident of uncouth behaviour at the toilet of the shopping centre. the toilet was newly renovated, everything bright and shiny. and yet, we met locals who just let their kids pee on the floor of the toilet instead of at the sink or in the cubicles. how gross. lunch was at the steak restaurant situated at the top floor of the shopping centre. was it enjoyable? nope. for a pricey establishment, people were talking like their counterparts were hard of hearing, while others blatantly smoking in the air-conditioned location. i was definitely glad to return to hong kong for the tail end of my trip. walked the temple and ladies street markets. prices were unbelievably high and the shopkeepers were unwilling to lower their prices, so we only bought some souvenirs. however, we found this good and cheap noodle stall off temple street market on the way back to the mtr station. noodles cost 13hkd and the wontons were huge! wontons in hong kong have prawns in them, different from the pork filled ones in singapore. would go back for more, but we wanted to hit more restaurants so we could have a taste of the variety of food in hong kong. |
