turkey day 12-13: istanbul-singapore my last post on turkey! we spent the day hitting the "malls" and traveling back to singapore. it was also the first time we took public transport in turkey!  first, we took the tram. the tram route is only in the city and one trip costs $1.75 no matter how many stops you take.     it is the same for the underground train as well.   we headed to taksim square where there were many shops. kind of like our orchard road. we were there for almost the whole day and we didn't even cover half of the shops. which was probably a good thing for our budget.    you definitely have to hit centro if you go there! they have many brands inside and i bought lovely dresses good for work and play. also they sell havaianas there for like only sgd$16! needless to say, i bought two pairs!  we had lunch at kfc. the price was appalling, almost sgd$10 for a set for two pieces of chicken. also the food was lukewarm and extremely oily. point to note: fastfood is expensive there.  dinner at the airport was even worse! one set of bk was about sgd$15!!! daylight robbery! and it was one of the cheapest fare there.  we sat on one of the newer planes. big big touchscreens :)   parv and i on our 9 hour transit. we were so exhausted by the time we got back.
